2010 NATIONAL PERFORMANCE COMPETITION 

We thank all Members who took part in this Competition in 2009.  We would like to encourage more Members to take part.  This is a points Competition open to all registered Welsh Ponies and Cobs.  All disciplines are eligible, and is open to all Members of the WPCS.

 

We are very fortunate to have the continued sponsorship from Brightwells Auctioneers, Welsh Pony Part-Bred Group, Roberts Native Show Team, and PASC Equestrian Supplies.  For 2010 we have the very generous support of  The Welsh Pony and Cob Society.

There are over 30 Sections for which Trophies are given.  Bursaries are given to riders under 14 years.

 

There will again be an Area Association Team section.  Teams will consist of a maximum of 5 ponies (1 from each welsh section), the top 4 scores to count.

 

The Competition will run from 27 February to 26 September 2010.

Brand New 2010 Home Counties Performance Awards

Home Counties have always run a performance award scheme for the Ridden and In-Hand ponies. In 2010 the scheme has been totally re-vamped. There are new catagories with a new emphasis on 'Perfomance' The Welsh Breed is such a versatile Breed with so many capabilities in any sphere! There will also be an award for Geldings and for Young Riders/Handlers! The new performance awards form is available to download from here. Congratulations to the Barsoums' quailfiying for HOYS
 
Crugmelyn Owain Glyndwr, He qualified at Royal Cornwall show, this is the 2nd time he has qualified for HOYS, he also Qualified for Olympia in 2007 and won the ridden stallion class at the Royal welsh as a novice.
 
Tyreos Billie Fury - welsh sec C mare, she qualified at Staffordshire country festivile, this is the first time Billie has been qualified for HOYS. She is ridden by Laura Barsoum.

Royal Welsh News
Barry and Helen Hall of the Murrayhall Stud took a homebred yearling Colt to the Royal Welsh. MurrayHall Axle was placed 4th in a class of 32! Congratulations to you all!
 
Cargarsar Silver Shadow got 2nd in his first appearance in the wagon class, driven by clare granger, at The Royal welsh.
He also got driving champion 2 weeks earlier at northleach driven by clare granger on his first outing.

HCWPCA Summer Show - We are almost ready with the schedule for the August show and are now open to offers of sponsorship. The sponsorship packages available are £15 for any class, £25 for a championship (Gelding, Mare, Foal, Stallion, Youngstock, Overall as well as ridden championships) £35 for a Medal Championship (A, B, C, D or PB) Please email hcwpca04@yahoo.co.uk for further information or to confirm your sponsorship.
 
Herts County Show - Congratulations to all our members who supported the Herts County Show. Home Counties support the best welsh exhibit rosettes at this show so it was good to see so many members competing for these awards. Particular Congratulations to Ailsa Duff and Louise Davies whos' mare Glanvyrnwy Honey won the Overall Welsh Championship.
